What 1,000 marketers told us about what actually works in 2025

AI isn't killing marketing, but unstable platforms might. See why email remains the most trusted, highest-ROI channel for marketers this year and how

Hey Aneka,

We've been hearing it everywhere lately: AI overviews eating into organic traffic, social media engagement nosediving, rising ad costs. It feels like the rules keep changing and not in our favor as marketers and business owners.

While working on one of this month's articles, I couldn't help but reflect on all of this.

But when my colleague shared some fresh survey data with me where over 1,000 pro marketers shared insights about their most trusted and effective channels, I was surprised.

What stood out to me most is how email marketing continues to prove itself as a top performer even in this AI-driven, TikTok and social-media-crazed world. In fact, 26.9% of marketers said email delivered the highest ROI for them in the past six months, which is more than any other channel. And over a third invested more in email than in paid ads or social media campaigns. Read full article.

Now, does this mean you should ditch all your other marketing channels and put all your attention on email? Not at all. But adopting the "AND" approach and making sure email is part of your omnichannel or multichannel strategy is certainly a smart move.

How? Don't ditch TikTok or social media, cut back on SEO, or stop running ads. Instead, integrate these channels into a system where your paid and organic efforts work together to drive conversions and grow an email list you actually own and can retarget anytime.

Turn your TikTok or social media audience into email subscribers with lead magnets like coupons, giveaways, free ebooks, webinars, and more. Let all your channels complement each other instead of competing or working at cross purposes.

When implemented well, this can work for all types of businesses from B2C, B2B to ecommerce.
